Virginia Wiggers

[OCT. 18, 2006]  Virginia W. Wiggers, 90, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at 12:45 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wiggers worked for the state as an inspector of nursing homes throughout Illinois. She lived in Lincoln until 1999, when she moved to Gulf Breeze, Fla., to live with her daughter.

She was born May 1, 1916, in Franklin to John and Clara Stice Votsmier. She married Melvin B. Wiggers on Dec. 31, 1936 in Rockville, Ind. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Johnson of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; two granddaughters, Jo Dee Johnson of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Traci Poston of Mary Esther, Fla.; one grandson, Chad H. Sheley of Mount Prospect; and one great-grandson, Blake Sheley.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Melody Sheley.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Deaconess Alumni Association.

She graduated from Franklin High School and from Deaconess School of Nursing in Lincoln.
