[OCT. 30, 2006]  CHESTNUT -- Mary Helen Drake, 90, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at 12:20 p.m. at her daughter's home in Chestnut.

There is no visitation.

A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Mount Pulaski Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut. The Rev. Joel Dietrich will officiate.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Drake was a housewife and became chairman of the board of the Bank of Chestnut when her husband died in 1983.

She was born May 8, 1916, in Elkhart to William and Hattie Cherry Schilling. She married Michael Warren Drake in Springfield on Feb 19, 1936. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1983.

She is survived by one son, John Drake (and Rebecca) of Chestnut; two daughters, Betty Koenig Montgomery (and Larry Fox) of Chestnut and Beverly Ann Voss (and Al) of Monticello; a daughter-in-law, Pansy Drake of Colliersville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael L. Drake; four brothers; and two sisters.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut.

She was an avid fan of the Cardinals, a card player and an honorary member of the Chestnut Men's Club.

She graduated from Beason High School.

Memorials may be made to Chestnut Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Illinois.
