Redbirds slip to No. 8 in Sports Network poll

After suffering a 27-13 loss to then No. 10-ranked Youngstown State,
the Illinois State football team remained in the top 10 of The
Sports Network I-AA Top-25 Poll but slipped from No. 3 to No. 8.

The Redbirds dropped to No. 9 in the College Sporting News Coaches
Poll after their first I-AA defeat of the season. The 'Birds
continued to be one of four Gateway Football Conference teams in the
TSN poll. Youngstown State climbed to No. 7.
Southern Illinois jumped seven spots and is ranked No. 12, while
Northern Iowa fell to No. 14 after losing at the UNI-Dome to Western
Illinois.

Appalachian State continued its run as the top I-AA team with
2,568 points and 96 first-place votes. Montana also remained in
second with 2,438 points, while the Redbirds collected 1,783 points.
Illinois State returns to action on Saturday as the Redbirds host
Missouri State in the final regular-season home game at Hancock
