Lincoln street work to begin this week

Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 19, 2006]  Numerous Lincoln streets are about to get one of two degrees of makeovers that will extend the life of the street. Some will get the more extensive slurry coat process, and others will get a freshening up with a seal coat.

City engineer Mark Mathon said that slurry seal is expected to begin Thursday on Tremont Street and progress through town, ending with the work in Lincolnwood subdivision.

Crews will be in the areas a day or two prior to the actual slurry process for prep work.

During the work, the streets will be closed until the slurry seal cures, which may take from two to six hours. People are asked to be patient with the process, as the end result will be a smoother, more attractive surface that will extend the lifespan of the pavement.
