Noted author of 'Prophet, Pastor and Patriarch: The Rhetorical Leadership of Alexander Campbell' to sign books at LCCS          Send a link to a friend

[April 14, 2007]  Dr. Peter Verkruyse, associate professor at Illinois College, will be appearing at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary for a book signing on Wednesday.

Verkruyse's acclaimed book, "Prophet, Pastor and Patriarch: The Rhetorical Leadership of Alexander Campbell," was chosen as the 2006 Book of the Year by the Religious Communication Association. The work is published by the University of Alabama Press.

The book provides an in-depth look at the power of rhetorical leadership and details how Campbell, a pivotal figure in the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement, gained and maintained influence within a major American-based faith community.

Verkruyse, a graduate of Lincoln Christian College and Seminary, is an associate professor of communication and rhetorical studies at Illinois College in Jacksonville. He is a noted lecturer and minister.

The book signing is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the bookstore. A cookie and coffee reception will be offered. The public is invited to attend.
