Lincoln continues in Legion tourney          Send a link to a friend

[August 03, 2007]  LITCHFIELD -- On Thursday, Lincoln beat Rantoul 11-2 to stay alive in the Legion division tourney.

Royce Duncan went five solid innings for the win, giving up no earned runs and striking out nine. Josh Gardner pitched the last four innings, shutting down Rantoul on only two hits and no runs.

Craemer Soebbing had a third-inning three-run home run. Cody Aughton had three hits (one a triple), Justin Ritchhart had two, and Kyle Hower a double.

In the nightcap, Lincoln was leading Danville 8-4 in the top of the fourth inning when the lights failed. The game was scheduled to continue at 11 a.m. Friday. Lincoln had just scored seven runs in the top of the fourth and had a runner at third with two outs when the lights failed.
