Joann Eckert

[August 10, 2007]  Joann R. Eckert, 75, of Lincoln died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at 3:10 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Terry Bailey officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Eckert retired from Lincoln Developmental Center in 1991 as a property control supervisor.

She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Springfield to John and Bertha Sottiaux Couturiaux. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Paul R. Smith. She married Ben Eckert on June 5, 1954, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death in 1970.

She is survived by one son, Paul (and Lyn) Eckert of Lincoln; two daughters, Vicki (and David) Morgan of Oakley and Mary (and Tom) Flynn of Oak Lawn; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Heather Gleason. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church, Woman's Club of Lincoln, TOPS Club and The Oasis.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, to help with breast cancer, or to The Oasis.
