Charles Cicci

[August 13, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Charles "Chuck" Cicci, 64, of Covington, Tenn., formerly of Lincoln and Springfield, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. Fifth St. in Springfield, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, 730 S. 12th St., with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

A memorial service in Covington, Tenn., will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug 17, at St. Alphonsus Church, 1225 Highway 51 S. 

Mr. Cicci worked for the state of Illinois for 33 years at Lincoln Developmental Center and for two years at Arlington Developmental Center in Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 37 years; five children, Todd Cicci of Lincoln, Julie Parker of Carl Junction, Mo., Charlie Cicci of Winfield, Chad Cicci of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Chris Cicci of St. Louis, Mo.; his sister, Rita Keys of Springfield; and his brother, Ray Cicci of Springfield.

He was an active member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Covington, Tenn. He was a member and current treasurer of Knights of Columbus, the current secretary of Rotary, and a substitute teacher for the Tipton County, Tenn., Board of Education.

He was known for his contributions as a volleyball and basketball referee for several schools in central Illinois and in Tipton County, Tenn.

He graduated with a BSBA from Quincy College and an MBA from Bradley University.

Chuck is fondly remembered as a loving husband, terrific father and grandfather of 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all his friends, whom he valued greatly.
