George C. Ahrens, 97, of Lincoln died
Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at 10 p.m. at the Christian Village.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church
of Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Mark Drews officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and
from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Zion in Mount Pulaski on
Saturday. |
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Mr. Ahrens farmed east of Mount Pulaski before
retiring.
He was born March 27, 1910, at Hartsburg to
Melchert H. and Grace Arends Ahrens. He married
Marie Deverman on Aug. 18, 1937, in Lincoln.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth (and Linda)
Ahrens of Bloomington; two daughters, Jean (and
Ronald) Crane of Decatur and Lois (and David) Graney
of Fayetteville, Ark.; four granddaughters; two
stepgrandsons; three great-grandchildren; and six
step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Recus,
John and William; and one sister, Hanna. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Mount
Pulaski, where he served nine years as an elder and
42 years as an usher. |
After he and his wife retired, he built and sold
woodcraft items for many years.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of
Mount Pulaski.
