Lindsey Blankenship

[August 27, 2007]  ATLANTA -- Lindsey W. Blankenship, 96, of Atlanta died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at 12:25 a.m. at the Hopedale Nursing Home in Hopedale.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at the Atlanta Christian Church. His funeral will be at the church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with Don Hoover officiating. Another half-hour for visitation will precede the service.

Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery.

Quiram Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Blankenship worked for Gilbert and Son True Value in Atlanta for 50 years.

He was born Oct. 24, 1910, in Adair County, Ky., to Preston and Nora Tarter Blankenship. He married Mary E. Elsberry on May 29, 1960, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Patricia (and Curt) Cline of Clinton and Catherine (and Stephen) Burberry of Harrodsburg, Ky.; one son David (and Melanie) Blankenship of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, two daughters and one son.

He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church and attended the Lincoln Bible Church.

Memorials may be made to the Hopedale Medical Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or American Cancer Society.
