[August 28, 2007]  NEW YORK (AP) -- U.S. Open tennis resumes today with Lleyton Hewitt taking on Amer Delic, Martina Hingis facing Mathilde Johansson and Michael Russell going against James Blake in the day matches.

Tonight, Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Novak Djokovic, Anna Chakvetadze and Daniela Hantuchova are all in action.

There were very few surprises during day one of the U.S. Open yesterday.

The top seeds breezed into the second round. Justine Henin dispatched Germany's Julia Goerges 6-0, 6-3, and Roger Federer topped American Scoville Jenkins 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Other seeded winners on the women's side were No. 3 Jelena Jankovic and No. 5 Ana Ivanovic, along with eighth seed Serena Williams, 10th seed Marion Bartoli and 12th seed Venus Williams.

Fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko, ninth seed Tomas Berdych and No. 10 Tommy Haas were among the men's first-round winners. But 18th-seeded Marcos Baghdatis and No. 21 Juan Carlos Ferrero were dispatched.
