Martha Birdwell

[December 01, 2007]  Martha "Marty" Birdwell, 66, of Lincoln died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at 3:10 a.m. at her home with her family.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Prairieland Christian Church in Hartsburg, with Pastor Vance Russell officiating.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Birdwell retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after serving for many years as a technician. She most recently worked part time as a clerk for the Salvation Army in Lincoln.

She was born Jan. 4, 1941, in Burgaw, N.C., to Bennett Wagstaff and Gladys Lanier. She married Cecil Birdwell on Oct. 10, 1991, in Lincoln.

She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; three daughters, Sharon Kennett (and Rich) of Hartsburg, Veronica Ozier (and fiance Devin Boyer) of Columbus, Ohio, and Penelope (and Eric) Last of Williamsville; two stepdaughters, Devenna Birdwell of Mount Pulaski and Regina Opaka of Decatur; one sister, Doris Riggs of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one niece; one nephew; one great-niece; three great-nephews; and her loving canine companion, Libby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant Ozier, and twins Ronald Bennett and Amanda Charlotte.

Memorial donations may be made to her family or Memorial Home Hospice.
