Louise Farthing

[FEB. 2, 2007]  Louise S. Farthing, 96, formerly of Lincoln, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at 5:25 p.m. at Pickaway Manor Care Center in Circleville, Ohio.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Farthing taught first grade at Central School for 27 years.

She was born July 9, 1910, in New Canton to the Rev. Royal L. and Maude A. Angell Shores. She married Harold H. "Red" Farthing on June 1, 1935, at Loraine, Ill. He preceded her in death March 9, 1997.

She is survived by one son, John (and Nancy) Farthing of Circleville, Ohio; one daughter, Ann VanDeventer of Lincoln; one brother, Merle (and Velma) Shores of Beardstown; three sisters, Marian Opie of Des Moines, Iowa, Phyleta Plunk of Mansfield and Dorothy (and Joseph) Falta of Wisconsin; grandchildren Doug Vandeventer of Lincoln, Julie Buckles of New Holland, Jeff (and Julie) Farthing of Columbus, Ohio, Michael (and Amy) Farthing of Columbus, Ohio, Laura (and Jeff) Dornsife of Columbus, Ohio, and Kimberly (and Rob) Fausnaugh of Circleville, Ohio; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, DAR, Emblem Club, AARP, and a life member of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Retired Teachers.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln.
