MOUNT PULASKI -- Loren Elmer
Mittelsteadt, 84, of Mount Pulaski died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at
1:20 a.m. at his home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. |
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion
Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev. Mark
Drews officiating. Burial, with military rites,
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Mittelsteadt farmed with his father, and he
owned and operated Mittelsteadt Equipment in Mount
Pulaski since 1962 and with his son Roger until
2007.
He served with the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne
paratroopers, in World War II.
He was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Mount Pulaski to
Arthur E. and Norma M. Maxheimer Mittelsteadt. He
married Nancy C. O'Brien in Lincoln on June 4, 1950.
He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; two
sons, Roger Lee (and Karen) Mittelsteadt of Mount
Pulaski and Michael Dean (and Julie) Mittelsteadt of
Lincoln; one daughter, Lorna Jean (and Michael) Wood
of Lincoln; one sister, Dorothy (and Ray) Bernahl of
Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond,
and one sister, Ruth Schroeder. |
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Mount
Pulaski, past commander of American Legion Post 447
and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
777.
For his military service, he was awarded the
Purple Heart and Good Conduct medals. He had
privilege of watching the peace treaty being signed
after World War II.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or
Zion Lutheran School of Mount Pulaski.
