[February 19, 2007]  ATLANTA -- Donnita C. Bateman, 75, of Atlanta died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at 4:30 p.m. at her home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Atlanta Christian Church. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Maurice Stribling officiating.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

Mrs. Bateman retired from Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln as the director of nursing.

She was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Armington to Claude and Ada White Cates. She married Charles Ray Bateman on June 2, 1949, in Atlanta. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1989.

She is survived by one son, Allen Ray (and Julie) Bateman of Phenix City, Ala.; one daughter, Cindie Lea (and Roger) Juracek of Atlanta; one sister, Odessa Roadarmel of Normal; three grandsons, James Allen Bateman of Bloomington, Travis Lee (and Marissa) Juracek of Wheeling and Justin Ray Juracek of Fort Bragg, N.C.; and one great-grandson, Cole Bateman.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Louise Cummins, and one brother, Archie Cates.

She graduated from Atlanta High School in 1949.

Memorials may be made to Atlanta Fire Department or Atlanta Rescue Squad.
