Edythe Furman

[JAN. 3, 2007]  WAYNESVILLE -- Mrs. Edythe Furman, 89, of Waynesville died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nadine Preston officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville.

She was born April 30, 1917, in Corwith, Iowa, to Clarence Alexander and Ethel Marvel Fletcher. She married Thomas Tilden Furman on Dec. 9, 1933. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Furman is survived by three sons, Richard (and Shirley) Furman of Waynesville, Allen (and Kay) Furman of Lincoln and Steve (and Jackie) of Luray, Va.; one sister, Eloise Fletcher of Henderson, Nev.; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Don Furman; three sisters; and two brothers.

She was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church, Homestead Association in Clinton, DAR and Eastern Star, in which she served as worthy matron from 1951 to 1952.

Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Fire and Rescue Department or to the Waynesville United Methodist Church.
