[JAN. 2, 2007]  David L. Houghton, 88, of Lincoln died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Christian Village.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at New Union Cemetery, with Ryan Edgecomb officiating.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Houghton was a retired welder.

He was born Feb. 21, 1926, at Arenzville to Leslie and Marie Horney Houghton. He married Betty Jaggers on Oct. 25, 1946, in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three sons, Clarence Houghton, David Bruce Houghton and Roy Houghton, all of Lincoln; two daughters, Linda (and Al) Jordan of Mountain Home, Ark., and Diane (and Joe) Powers of Lincoln; one sister, Mary Walters of Lincoln; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Robert Houghton, preceded him in death.

The family requests that there be no flowers. Memorials may be made to the family.
