[JAN. 8, 2007]  John D. Ahrens, 100, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at 3 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

John D. Ahrens, 100, of Hartsburg died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at 3 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Ahrens retired after 47 years in farming.

He was born Sept. 25, 1906, at Hartsburg to Melchert and Grace Arends Ahrens. He married Louise T. Seitzer on Oct. 23, 1937, in Hartsburg.

He is survived by one son, Donald Ahrens of Hartsburg; one daughter, Nancy (and Ronald) Robbins of Lincoln; one brother, George Ahrens of Lincoln; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, where he served on the church council and was a Brotherhood member. He was also on the Hartsburg Elementary School board and the Hartsburg State Bank board, where he served as president.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg.
