Christian 'Junior' Erlenbush

[July 02, 2007]  LATHAM -- Christian "Junior" Erlenbush, 80, of Latham, formerly of rural Mount Pulaski, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 5:20 p.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Pulaski Christian Church. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Marvin Flowers and Jeremy Thomason officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski is handling arrangements.

Mr. Erlenbush was a retired carpenter.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947, during World War II, and served in the Philippines.

He was born June 14, 1927, in Lincoln to Christian Walter and Edith Sciota Copeland Erlenbush. He married Patricia Downing in Mount Pulaski on Aug. 20, 1950, and she preceded him in death April 7, 1995. He married Lori Werkman Dunn in Sangamon County on April 13, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, of Latham; one son, Stuart (and Lynnette) Erlenbush of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Pamela Erlenbush (and Greg Maus) of Mount Pulaski; one sister, Frances Mason of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Christian Eric Erlenbush of Fountain Valley, Calif., Brian Andrew Erlenbush of Baton Rouge, La., Jonathan Craig Erlenbush of Mount Pulaski, Ryan Nicholas Maus of Mount Pulaski and Lindsay N. Erlenbush Maus of Mount Pulaski; two stepsons, David Werkman and Bob Werkman; four stepgrandchildren, Megan Jenkins, Matthew Werkman, Robert C. Werkman and Eric Werkman; and one step-great-grandchild, William Workman.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church, Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447, Mount Pulaski VFW Post 777, National Rifle Association and Warrensburg Sportsman Club.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at Mount Pulaski Christian Church or to Memorial Home Service Hospice.
