Ruben Jewel Presswood, 82, of Lincoln
died Monday, July 2, 2007, at 3:30 a.m. at the Christian Village.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Scott Marsh officiating. |
Burial, with military rites, will be in Harmony
Cemetery, Beason. Mr. Presswood worked for
Caterpillar Tire and Tractor in Decatur and farmed
in DeWitt County for a number of years
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Pinckneyville to
Clyde and Bessie Davis Presswood. He married Mildred
R. Lowery on Aug. 17, 1946, in Lincoln. She preceded
him in death Aug. 29, 1992.
He is survived by one son, Robert Presswood of
Lincoln; two brothers, George (and Virginia)
Presswood of Lincoln and Ted (and Linda) Presswood
of Lincoln; one sister, Sue (and Larry) Fulk of
Lincoln; one grandson, Matthew Presswood of Atlanta;
one granddaughter, Julie (and Dan) Benedict of San
Angelo, Texas; three great-grandchildren; and a
special friend, Dorothy Wall of Lincoln. |
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Duane and
Vernus. He was a member of Texas Christian Church in
Clinton.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at his
church.
