In the first game, Hartsburg had 13 hits in a 15-4 victory. Devon
Swart and Cody Bolen were each a home run short of hitting for the
cycle in the game. Swart scored five runs. Zach Leonard had two hits
and scored four runs. Meeker and Hourbert also had two hits. Jason
O'Brien pitched five innings, giving up only four hits, while
striking out nine for Hartsburg. For Wal-Mart, Austin Jones had
two hits and two runs scored.
The nightcap of the doubleheader was a different story
altogether. Tanner Smith (Wal-Mart) and Cody Bolen (Hartsburg)
locked horns, both pitching complete games, in a classic pitcher's
duel. Bolen was the winning pitcher, allowing one earned run on four
hits, while striking out nine. Smith was the tough-luck loser (3-2),
allowing two unearned runs on four hits, while striking out 12.
For Wal-Mart, Jake Olson, Hayden Matson, Andy Krusz, Corey
Janssen and Seth Graue had hits. Graue scored the only run for
Wal-Mart.
