McLEAN -- Donald Dennis Childers,
75, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of McLean, died July 4, 2007, at
his home. |
A graveside service for Mr. Childers will be at 11
a.m. Monday, July 16, at the McLean Cemetery, with
Tony Billingsley officiating. Military rites will be
conducted. Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta
is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Childers retired as an auditor for East St.
Louis Junior College.
He served in the U.S. Army from July 13, 1949, to
Sept. 2, 1952.
He was born in McLean on Oct. 15, 1931, to James
H. and Mary Holt Childers.
He is survived by his wife, Ligaya Childers, of
Sun City, Ariz.
He was a member of American Legion Post 573 in
McLean and the Union Hills Country Club in Arizona. |
In the Army, he became a Ranger and received the
Combat Infantryman award, Purple Heart, Oak Leaf
Cluster, Korean War Service Medal and five Bronze
Stars.
He graduated from McLean High School in 1949.
