Irene Rogers

[June 09, 2007]  Irene Pat Rogers, 82, of Lincoln died Friday, June 8, 2007, at 2:10 a.m. at the Christian Village.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at Worth.

Mrs. Rogers retired as tax assessor for Logan County. She had also worked as a freight forwarder in Chicago.

She was born March 24, 1925, at Amery, Wis., to Lars and Beatta Benson Brusletten. She married Dr. Francis Rogers on Sept. 12, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1986.

She is survived by one son, John Dennis (and Lynn) Rogers of Chicago Heights; two daughters, Eileen Frances (and Pat) Recine of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Teresa Lynn (and Elton) Hurley of New Holland; 11 grandchildren, Annemarie Kosarek, Carrie Witte, Jenny Gomez, Nick Hurley, Kevin Hurley, Aaron Hurley, Chris Hurley, John Rogers, Tanya Rogers, John Rogers and Charlie Rogers; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Herb Bursletten; and three sisters, Dolly Rowdy, Gail Gysler and Bernice Mickola.

She was a member of Holy Family Church and American Legion Auxiliary 263. She was also a foster grandmother.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Holy Family Church.
