Robbins selected as Parkland's Female Athlete of the Year          Send a link to a friend

[June 14, 2007]  CHAMPAIGN -- Brooklyn Robbins, Zach Skidmore and Holly Nichols have earned top honors in awards announced by the Parkland College Athletic Department. Robbins (volleyball) and Skidmore (baseball) have been selected as the Female and Male Athlete of the Year, respectively, while Nichols (softball) earned recognition as Student-Athlete of the Year.

Robbins is a two-time NJCAA All-American in volleyball and was also the M-WAC and Region 24 Player of the Year. The Lincoln Community High School graduate has signed to play for former Cobra coach Brenda Winkeler at SIU-Carbondale.

Skidmore (Dundee-Crown High School), who was also the M-WAC and Region 24 Player of the Year, hit .460 this season and has signed to play next season at Eastern Illinois.

Nichols is a first-team softball all-American and an NJCAA Academic All-American. The Tuscola graduate earned a degree in early childhood education with a 3.855 grade-point average. Nichols will attend the University of Illinois next year.
