He was a self-employed carpet layer and had worked
on shrimp boats. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was born March 14, 1957, in Canton, Ohio.
Survivors include his mother, Peggy Ann Leathers
Lahmeyer of Springfield; his father, Ronald Lee
Nichols of Springfield; one brother, Kevin Lee
Nichols of Jacksonville, Fla.; and an aunt, Jean
Mellott Cypher of Lincoln, who cared for him for
several years.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Carrie
Welker Hahn, who lived in Broadwell and also helped
care for him.
He was of the Christian faith.
He graduated from Lanphier High School in 1975.
