Lincoln splits at Pontiac Saturday, sweeps Macomb Sunday

[June 18, 2007]  The Lincoln American Legion varsity started its season off with a tough schedule, with five games in four days. Four of those games were this weekend: at Pontiac on Saturday, where they split a doubleheader, and two on Father's Day, when they took two in front of a home crowd against Macomb.

In Saturday's games at Pontiac, Lincoln dropped the first game of the doubleheader 12-2. Royce Duncan (0-1) took the loss for Lincoln on the mound, as the offense backed Duncan with only five hits, producing two runs. One of the five hits was a double by Cramer Soebbing.

In the second game, Lincoln bounced back with eight runs on 15 hits, backing Josh Gardner's complete-game pitching performance. Lincoln was led by Jeremy Moore and Josh Baker. Each had three hits and a double. Justin Ritchhart and Cody Aughton had two hits each. Ritchhart and Austin Maske also doubled for Lincoln.
