13-14-year-olds in Heat Days tourney          Send a link to a friend

[June 25, 2007]  A Lincoln Area All-Star team committed only one error in its first game of the Heat Days tournament Friday night.

Tanner Smith induced 16 fly balls and pop-outs and scattered seven hits in a complete-game, 6-1 loss to the Springfield Hitting Center. Jason O’Brien accounted for six of those catches in center field. Down 3-1 in the bottom half of the sixth, the Lincoln Stars were a base hit away from tying the game.

Aaron Klemm (single) and Ross Arneaud (double) had hits for Lincoln.

Lincoln looked forward to getting its hitting game on track as play continued Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Outlaws, a team from south of Springfield, and again on Sunday, at 11 a.m., against a team from Clinton.
