[March 07, 2007]  MIDDLETOWN -- Winifred Nellie Nichols, 99, of Middletown died Monday, March 5, 2007, at 7:55 p.m. at the Christian Village in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ryan Edgecomb officiating. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, rural Middletown.

Mrs. Nichols was a retired beautician and had worked at the Illiopolis Armory.

She was born May 3, 1907, in Tecumseh, Okla., to Henry N. and Bertie L. Rice Stone. She married Fred Nichols on July 1, 1924, in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1975.

She is survived by one daughter, Alice Geraldine Doyle of Carlsbad, N.M.; two granddaughters, Sylvia (and Gail) Ringland of Easton and Sharon Guernsey of Springfield; five great-grandchildren, William F. (and Erin) Miller of Manhattan, Kan., Edward C. (Laurel) Miller of Platt City, Mo., Jason D. Miller of Atlanta, Shane E. Guernsey of Springfield and Camille R. Guernsey of Riverton; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Henry Stone, and two sisters, Catherine Estill and Geraldine Fox.

She was a member of the Middletown Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village.
