Lincoln steals sectional championship from Bloomington 50-49

[March 10, 2007]  The Railers are now one hop out from state finals on “The Road to Peoria” after narrowly nudging Bloomington out of play on Friday evening. Lincoln secured the sectional championship at Ottawa by one point with a final score of 50-49. 

Leading Lincoln in points were Brandon Farmer with 20 points and Caleb Sutton with 18. Sutton also claimed 11 rebounds.

In 3-point showdown, Sutton advanced with eight 3-pointers; Louie Schonauer also made eight 3s and won the tiebreaker at the line.

The Railers enter supersectional play on Tuesday evening at ISU. They play Peoria (Richwoods), who won their sectional championship game over Washington 73-69.

State finals are scheduled to take place in Peoria on Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March 17.
