Eileen Lach

[March 12, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Eileen Lach, 88, of Sherman, formerly of Lincoln, died March 6, 2007, at 7:35 a.m. at Villa East Healthcare Center in Sherman.

The family welcomes friends to visit from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. Sixth St. in Springfield.

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Lach will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Schulte as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

She was born July 16, 1918, in Cantrall to Daniel A. and Katherine C. McIntyre Metz. She married Roman Lach on April 6, 1942, in Louisana; he preceded her in death on April 21, 1989.

She is survived by one son, Michael (and Ann) Lach of Lenexa, Kan.; two daughters, JoAnne (and John) Fleshman of Antioch and Mary (and Jim) Killgore of Grand Terrace, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Freeman of Springfield, Mary Louise Woloshyn of Springfield and Betty Lou Hughes of Springfield; one brother, James (and Lucille) Metz of Springfield; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, JoAnn Metz; two brothers, Danny and Larry Metz; and many friends.

Mrs. Lach was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.

She served as an election judge in Lincoln for several years and as a volunteer at the senior center.

She was a graduate of Williamsville High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Villa Health Care West, 100 Stardust Drive, Sherman, IL 62684; or The Villas of Sherman, 100 Marian Parkway, Sherman, IL 62684.
