Virginia Burke

[May 10, 2007]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Virginia Mae Burke, 82, of Mount Pulaski, formerly of Illiopolis, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 11:10 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Burke's life was at 10 a.m. Thursday in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. There was no visitation. 

Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home of Decatur assisted the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Burke retired as a doctor's assistant. 

She was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Springfield to Vernell and Edith Zeigler Arnold. She married John T. Burke in 1956 in Decatur.

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years; her children, John Burke Jr. and his wife, Unchu, of Decatur, and Susan K. Burke of Tecumseh, Okla.; two brothers, Robert Arnold and wife Betty of Owaneco, and Richard Arnold and wife Judy of Decatur; two sisters, V. June Lockmiller and husband Marvin, and Nancy Sedivy and husband Rene of Oakley; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

An infant son, Thomas, preceded her in death.

She was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Auxiliary. 

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Heritage In Flight Museum, 1351 Airport Road, Lincoln, IL 62656.
