[May 21, 2007]  Russell Allen, 85, of Lincoln died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at 6:45 p.m. at the Christian Village.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday in Old Union Cemetery.

There is no visitation.

Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mr. Allen was a microbiologist. He retired from Lincoln Developmental Center in December of 1991.

He was born May 19, 1922, in Charlottesville, Va. He married Helen Roberts on Dec. 26, 1953, in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln.

He was of the Christian faith.

He was a member of the Toastmaster's Club of Lincoln, Illinois lab societies and a local computer club.

In his early life, he was educated in Myersdale, Pa. He attended West Virginia State University and also received two years of education at the Chicago School of Lab Technique.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Virginia State University at Institute, W.Va.
