Bennie Richey

[November 12, 2007]  Bennie Clarence Richey, 93, of Decatur, formerly of Lincoln, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at 11:47 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ray Pepple officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Galesburg.

Mr. Richey proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for four years and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after 16 years of service. He served in both World War II and the Korean War.

He was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Spokane, Wash., to Herbert and Myrtle Richey. He married Myrtle Hayes. She preceded him in death in July of 1982.

He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Pusey of Middletown; one sister, Dorothy Meeks of California; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

He was decorated in many Veterans of Foreign Wars posts around the world for his service to his country and to their organization.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Ridge Care Centre and will be accepted at the funeral home.
