Mary Shipp

[October 24, 2007]  Mary C. Shipp, 93, of Lincoln died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in Leavenworth, Kan., at the home of her daughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. Prior to the visitation, there will be a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. During the visitation, Eagles Lodge 2708 Ladies Auxiliary will have a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Shipp will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church, with Father Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Shipp taught at Carroll Catholic School from 1960 until 1980. She had also taught at many one-room schoolhouses in Logan and Mason counties.

She was born March 22, 1914, in Lincoln to Frances and Rose Mary Weber Murray. She married Floyd Shipp on Nov. 27, 1935, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1984.

She is survived by one son, Donald (and Mary Ann) Shipp of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Bobbi (and John) Goetz of Leavenworth, Kan.; one sister, Patricia (and Lowell) Aper of Emden; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, William Shipp; one sister; and three brothers.

She was a member of Holy Family Church, Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. 

She graduated from Lincoln College in 1933.

Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School or the donor's choice.
