Nellie Koester

[September 04, 2007]  Nellie Mae Koester, 86, of Lincoln died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at 1:36 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 at Peasley Funeral Home. Prior to the visitation, the rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m.

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Koester will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Liable officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Koester farmed with her husband in West Lincoln for 40 years.

She was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Lincoln to Emil and Marie Ananias Moos Sr. She married Frederick "Fritz" Koester Sr. on Nov. 7, 1943, at St. Patrick's Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2000.

She is survived by her children, Susan (and Bill) Pirtle of Lincoln, Gary (and Lana) Koester of Lake Port, Fla., and Fred Koester Jr. (and Shirley Winterbauer) of Lincoln; three brothers, Emil "Bud" Moos of Lincoln, William "Yahtzee" Moos of Lincoln and Thomas Moos of Springfield; one sister, Mary Ann Schonauer of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Shanle.

Mrs. Koester was a member of Holy Family Church and a former member of the Lucas Chapel Women's Club.

Memorials may be made to her church, St. Clara's Manor or the donor's choice.
