[September 12, 2007]  KENNEY -- James Michael "Jim" Leathers, 43, of Kenney died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at 1:24 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Scott Marsh officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln

Mr. Leathers was an auto body technician at Jim Xamis Ford Lincoln Mercury for 18 years.

He was born Oct. 30, 1963, in Lincoln to James Robert and Mary Newman Leathers. He married Tina Bradshaw on July 28, 2001, in Clinton.

He is survived by his wife, of Kenney; his mother, Mary Riggs of Lincoln; one daughter, Rebecca Lee of Lincoln; two brothers, David (and Cynthia) Newman of Lincoln and Brian (and Denise) Leathers of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and one niece, Megan Leathers.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Chuck Riggs; and his grandparents.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a life member of Lincoln Jaycees and a member of Lincoln Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2708 and Sons of the American Legion of Lincoln.
