Betty Klockenga

[September 17, 2007]  Betty Jean Klockenga, 85, of Lincoln died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 7:45 a.m. at the Christian Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Carroll Richards officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Klockenga was a retired teacher. She taught grade school four years at New Holland and 36 years at Broadwell. She also owned and operated Little House Antiques.

She was born May 23, 1922, in Lincoln to John Raymond and Ruth Forbis Wylie Fortman. She married George B. Klockenga in Lincoln on Jan. 16, 1950, which was her grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1998.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Klockenga of Morton and Michael (and Crystal) Klockenga of Lincoln, Neb.; one daughter, Cindy (and Jim) Mammen of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Heather (and Joe) Ryan, John (and Marsha) Mammen, Kelcie Klockenga, Kylie Klockenga and Cameron Klockenga; and four great-grandchildren, Ashlee Mammen, Wyatt Mammen, Delaney Ryan and Hadley Ryan.

She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, New Holland Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministries, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, ALMH Auxiliary and Logan, DeWitt, Mason County Retired Teachers.

She graduated from Eastern Illinois University.
