Virgil Young

[September 21, 2007]  ELKHART -- Virgil Wesley Young, 87, of Elkhart, formerly of Vidor, Texas, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at 10:15 p.m. at his son's home.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln, with Pastor S.M. Davis officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be Elkhart Cemetery.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Young was a greenskeeper at the Canton Club in Canton for many years.

He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Rushville to Edmund and Mabel Tomlinson Young.

He is survived by his son, Curtis W. Young of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Young was the last surviving member of the Arkansas Travelers Country Band. He also played the mandolin with the Circle L Cowboys Band.
