Eliot
C. Ebelherr, 90, of Lincoln, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at St.
John's Hospital in Springfield.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holland Barry and Bennett
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Maurice Stribling
officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at
the funeral home. |
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Mr. Ebelherr
moved to Lincoln from Bronx, N.Y., on Dec. 1, 1958,
to open Cutler-Hammer after working at the New York
plant for quite some time. When he retired, he had
served Cutler-Hammer with 40 years of employment.
He was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Bronx, N.Y., to
William Jacob and Eva Marie Reis Ebelherr. He
married Margaret A. Caroline Tappert on Sept. 15,
1940, in New York. She preceded him in death on Oct.
6, 1985.
He is survived by his two sons, Eliot Ebelherr
Jr. of Lincoln and Wayne Ebelherr (and Sharon Hayes)
of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Eric Ebelherr and
Curtis Ebelherr of California, Doug Ebelherr of
Lincoln, and Dana Bell (and Robbie) of Atlanta; one
great-granddaughter, Reagan Bell of Atlanta; two
step-great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Landon Bell of
Atlanta; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Ebelherr of
Lincoln and Ethel Tappert of South Carolina.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Kenneth and Bob Ebelherr, and one sister, Evelyn
Ouimet. |
He enjoyed sitting outside, watching and feeding the
squirrels and birds. In his younger years, he raced
pigeons and won many first-place ribbons in the
sport. He enjoyed sports and played baseball and was
on the softball team for Cutler-Hammer for several
summers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The
Oasis.
