[April 17, 2008]  Gospel music artist and Lincoln native Lesleigh Bennett will host a free event and party to release her new CD, entitled "No Mountain Too High," on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Christian Church Fellowship Center.

At 2:30 p.m., she will present a special concert performance featuring songs from her new album.

"This will give me a chance to meet people face to face and sign CDs," she said. "It will be just a good fellowship time."

There will be door prizes and light refreshments.

The CDs are $15 a copy, and they will be available at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home, the Lincoln Christian College bookstore, Mary Todd's Hallmark, and the Treasure Chest. They will also be available at Berean bookstores in Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington and Decatur.

For additional information, call 217-732-2638.

Trivia night fundraiser for Alaskan missionary recruits

Send a link to a friend

[April 16, 2008]  A trivia night scheduled for April 25 at Jefferson Street Christian Church will support Matthew and Rachel Grossmann, SEND International missionary recruits, as they prepare to move to rural Alaska this summer. Matthew, who currently teaches sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at Chester-East Lincoln Elementary School, is accepting a teaching position at Perryville, Alaska, in a remote Native American village. Proceeds from the trivia night will help with the couple’s relocation costs.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in The Well youth center at the church, which is located at 1700 N. Jefferson St.

People are invited to build a team of up to eight players, who will face challenging and fun trivia questions in 10 diverse categories, including Cubs-Cardinals, music and history.

The cost of $15 per person includes pizza and beverages.

Register your team by calling 735-5952 before April 23.

[April 14, 2008]  ATLANTA -- The public is invited to a praise service on Sunday, April 20, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Camp Griesheim Christian Retreat Center, rural Atlanta. Speaker for the evening will be Sam Rosa, LCC student and soccer coach.

Rosa is originally from Brazil and came to the U.S. in February 2000. His father, a pastor in Campinas, commissioned him to plant a Brazilian church in Orlando, Fla. While there, Sam also did youth group and ministry work at the Shalom United Church of Christ.

Music will be provided by Nathan Bassett and a freewill offering will be accepted to help offset ongoing operating expenses of Camp Griesheim.
