[December 08, 2008]  KENOSHA, Wis. -- This weekend the men and women of Lincoln College swimming represented the Lynx well at the fifth annual CollegeSwimming.com/TYR Invitational, at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. This was the fastest meet the team has competed in, next to their NJCAA national meet in March. Lincoln was also the only two-year school out of eight institutions competing. All of the swimmers earned season bests in their respective events, and some even earned lifetime bests.

The conclusion of the meet was highlighted by Brian Spittler, who finished first and set a meet record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.91, which ranks him as the fastest in the butterfly to date for the 2008-2009 season.

HardwareLincoln Coach Jake Sexton commented: "It's difficult to pick a race that stands out above the other when you have all 30 swimmers performing beyond expectations. Naturally, I was thrilled to see Brian Spittler put his name on the record books and earn an NCAA Division II qualifying time. However, it was just as exciting to see the team take the tone set by Brian and channel it into their races. We have never had a team (as a whole) be this fast this early in the season. I'm pleased that they have all responded to the training and are reaping all of the success of their hard work.

"We now have to prepare for our annual training trip in Orlando, Fla., and begin setting ourselves up for the NJCAA national meet in the upcoming months."
