Dorothy Rich

[December 15, 2008]  ATLANTA -- Dorothy F. Rich, 78, of Atlanta died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at 1:05 a.m. at her home.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Maurice Stribling officiating.

Burial will be in Roaches Chapel Cemetery, rural McLean.

Mrs. Rich owned Rich's Tree Service with her husband, beginning in 1968. She had also been employed at the Atlanta Locker.

Dorothy Faye Rich was born July 14, 1930, in Waynesville to Jesse and Martha McCallister Gelsthorpe. She married William Thomas Rich on Jan. 6, 1948, in Atlanta. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1988, in Peoria.

Mrs. Rich is survived by her children, Kandis Sue (and Mike) Shay of Atlanta, Marcia A. (and John) Quakenbush of Godfrey and Terry (and Sue) Rich of Atlanta; four sisters, Virginia (and Jim) French of Lincoln, and Ruth Organ, Betty Cisco and Mary Gelsthorpe, all of Waynesville; one brother, James (and Marsha) Gelsthorpe of Waynesville; and three grandsons, Justin (and Gila) Quakenbush, Erik Rich and Ross Quakenbush.

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Lee Rich; one brother, Leland "Bud" Gelsthorpe; and one sister, Evelyn Burger.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756 Auxiliary in Lincoln and the Waynesville American Legion Auxiliary.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Sangamon County or the donor's choice.
