[December 15, 2008]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Lincoln Youth Wrestling team traveled to Springfield Sunday for the Capitol Classic.  

In the 6-and-under age group Zach Malerich pinned his way to his first victory of the season and a third-place finish.

Anthony Withers picked up two wins and a second-place medal in the 7-8-year-old group. Trevor Bree and Jordan Malerich each finished third.

The 9-10-year-old division saw Jarrett Poole and Andrew Lawrence battle to second-place finishes. Jacob White placed third. Jonathan Riddle, Austin Swarts and Haidyn Carroll finished fourth. William Bergin finished fifth.

Christian McDonald led the entire Lincoln team and specifically the 11-12-year-old division by bringing home a championship. Conner Routson placed third.

Next Sunday the Lincoln team travels to Clinton for the Clinton Challenge.
