Marilyn Hickman

[December 16, 2008]  ADDISON -- Marilyn Mae Schroeder Hickman, 79, of Elgin, formerly of Addison, died suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Naples, Fla. She was originally from Lincoln.

Visitation will be on Friday, 3-9 p.m., at Humes Funeral Home, 320 W. Lake St. in Addison (two miles east of Route 53; two miles west of Route 83).

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 37 W. Army Trail Blvd., Addison. Her body will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service time.

Burial will be in Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hickman was a hearing officer for the Illinois secretary of state for many years. She also worked in the planning department for the village of Lombard, and she served as a deputy assessor for Addison Township.

She was the beloved wife of Chuck for 59 years; loving daughter of the late Walter J. and Nelva Dierker Schroeder; caring mother of Michael (and Joanne) Hickman and Diane (and Frank) Michelkamp; loving grandmother of Melissa, Frank, Meagan, Kelly, Robert and Courtney; dearest great-grandmother of Alexandrea and Izabel; dear sister of Dorothy (and Rocco) Giordano, Wilferd Schroeder and Loren (and Barbara) Schroeder; and fond aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

She graduated from Lincoln Community High School.

Marilyn loved being with her family and spending the winters at her home in Naples.
