New York twice cut the lead to five in the third quarter, but the Suns regained control with a 10-0 run that boosted the lead to 81-66. The Knicks rallied, but Richardson's 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds to play put Phoenix ahead 91-81 entering the fourth.
