Albert 'Earl' Mattson

[December 23, 2008]  Albert E. "Earl" Mattson, 76, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at 10:36 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

A memorial service for Mr. Mattson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mr. Mattson retired from the Logan County Public Employee Credit Union as a branch manager after 20 years of service.

He served in the Army National Guard and was stationed in California during the Korean War.

He was born March 30, 1932, in Cairo to Albert Earl and Helen Dyas Mattson Sr. He married Beverly A. Hayden on March 30, 1951, in Mounds City. She preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2001.

He is survived by his children, Gary (and Linda) Mattson of New Berlin, Michael (and Cynthia) Mattson of Lincoln, Kathy Houser of West Lafayette, Ind., Carolyn (and Robert) Wallace of Lincoln, Lynda Mattson of Lincoln, Robert (and Pam) Mattson of Lincoln, Lisa (and Rick) Mullenix of Lansing and Jamie Mattson of Holly Hill, Fla.; his grandchildren, Amerika, Angie, Lyberti, Leigh, Jerod, Holly, Cassie and Joshua; one great-grandchild, Courtnee; two sisters, Flora (and Don) Bradley of Morton and Marilyn (and Ted) Holland of Washington; two brothers, Dan (and Marsha) Mattson of Washington and Jerry (and Peggy) Mattson of Peoria; and two brothers-in-law, Keith Hayden and Lee Hayden.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Mattson and Bernie Mattson.

Mr. Mattson was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

He graduated from Mounds Township High School.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation or to any of the local hospice chapters.
