Irene Thies

[December 24, 2008]  Irene F. Thies, 85, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at 2:20 a.m. at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mason City Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stephen E. King officiating.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church in Mason City.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Mrs. Thies was a homemaker.

She was born Dec. 30, 1922, in rural Mason City to James Harlan and Dena Leesman Fleener. She married Earl G. Thies on Feb. 17, 1944, in Mason City. He preceded her in death June 29, 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen (David) Lowery of Beason; one son, James E. (and Connie) Thies of Chenoa; six grandchildren, Justin (and Jodi) Thies, Jeremiah (and Emmy) Thies, Tiffany (and Mike) Vaughn, Brad Lowery, Chase Lowery and Kelli (and Alan) Highland; three great-grandchildren, Megan (and Andy) Deilkes, Brooke Thies and Christopher Underwood; and one great-great-grandson, Chance Deilkes.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Fleener, and two brothers-in-law, Edward Blessman and Gail Thies.

Funeral Director

She was a member of Mason City Methodist Church, Lincoln Woman's Club, New Holland Woman's Club, Lincoln Emblem Club and New Holland Bunco Club.

Memorials may be made to Mason City United Methodist Church or Mason City Area Nursing Home.
