Emily Lyon

[February 01, 2008]  Emily M. Lyon, 83, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at home with her family.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Pastor David Andreasen officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Lyon worked for Ball Incon in Lincoln until her retirement in 1982.

She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in East St. Louis to Ross and Zora Farries Douglas. She married Charles Lyon on June 14, 1977, in Lincoln.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie, of Lincoln; one son, Charles "Chuck" (and Joyce) of Sherman; two daughters, Sylvia (and Dale) Wampler of Lincoln and Sandra (and Gary) Wampler of Lincoln; two brothers, Willis (and Shirley) Douglas of Lincoln and Virgil (and Geneva) Douglas of Lincoln; one sister, Julie of Lincoln; two stepsons, Thomas (and Patty) Lyon of Alabama and Tim (and Loy) of Alto Pass; three stepdaughters, JoAnn Goff of Beason, Judy (and John) Ross of Beason and Lisa Francis of Hartsburg; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 14 stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

One brother, two sisters and one great-grandson preceded her in death.

She was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Lincoln.

She enjoyed the beauty of God's creation in flowers, animals (especially dogs), cardinals, owls and, of course, her most precious flowers, her family.

Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Home Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
