(Response to
Motivating Parents to Combat Childhood Obesity) To the editor:
Here in England there is constant debate about overweight
children. Trouble is, mothers will drive their children instead of
walking them. When I was 4 1/2 (in 1940), I used to walk well over a
mile to school, and from the age of 6 I went on my own. It wasn't
till I was 11 that I cycled to senior school every day.
