Westminster Bluejays Defeat Lincoln Christian Preachers and Angels

Preachers

The Bluejays of Westminster College handed the Lincoln Christian College Preachers their eighth loss of the season, 85-63. After the Bluejays jumped off to a 12-point lead with 7:35 left in the first half at 31-19, the Preachers were able to narrow the score to 38-35 at the half.

The Preachers opened the second half with a basket to cut the deficit to one, and from that point Westminster gradually pulled ahead to 60-51 at the 11-minute mark. At that point Westminster scored three straight 3-pointers and put the game out of reach.

The Bluejays were led by Jason Warncke with 24 points, Andrew Buxton with 15 and Dylan Schram with 12. Eleven different Bluejays scored.

Lincoln Christian had four scorers in double figures: John Wallace 20, Matt Searby 14, Josiah Brock 11 and Alex Bond 10.

Lincoln Christian is now 3-8 for the season, while the Bluejays move to 6-3.

The Preachers next play Wednesday evening at Principia.

Angels

The Lincoln Christian College Angels were defeated by the Westminster College Bluejays 84-39.

Megan Buxton with 10 points was the only Angel to reach double figures. Emma Hanford contributed seven, and Bobbie Larson and Kim Kersey had six each.

Westminster College had four girls in double figures, led by Ashley Stanfill with 17, Brittney Scott 12, and Jillian Bone and Sarah Krichoff 10 each. Twelve different Bluejays scored in the game.

The Angels were only able to shoot 27.3 percent for the game and made only one out of nine 3-point attempts.

The Angels are now 1-10 for the season.

The Angels will play Wednesday evening at Principia.
